One of my friends in London launched her own business!
She sent all her scarves to NY from London,
and Jin and I helped her to make this website!
The model on the web is me, though my face doesn't show.

This peice is for the article of " South Africa's Fire Kingdom" from New York Times' Sunday Opinion.  I just chose the article and made the work as an assignment for Portfolio class. As I felt, I need to fix the color of the proteas flower for the next class.  It took me more than 12 hours to come up the idea at the desk yesterday. It was so frustrated for me that I just sit and think at the desk, but I get used to it now.

This sketch is a part of Tokyo Office Worker's diary
and is going to be done by Silkscreen.

Winter

I need to work this again,
because the composition is not strong.

Spring

My roommate told me that he found a guy who looked like this guy at church.
He should have taken a photo for me.

Princess

It came out like this.
I am so tired now.
What I need now is a can of beer!
But, tomorrow is Monday.
Should I drink or not?

Thanksgiving is over. I have to go back to my work now.
I like the stage of drawing for a final always,
and I often ruin it at the stage of painting.
That's why I scan the drawing just for in case.

a self-portrait from another person's eye with collage

This is my first collage in my life.
The self-portrait image I did before, a girl shows herself from a thick book,
and this one has the same story behind the images.
What is a fun!
I don't know I like this piece, but people seem to like it.

Wynken, Blynken and Nod

I haven't design characters for a story.
In class,  designing characters is an assignment for the next class.
It is difficult for me to draw an image in many angles without references, and I made the characters with clay. It is fun to make 3D characters!  I found out that those 3D dolls help me to study angles of them.

My Michael Jackson now on Drawger!

Now, my Michael Jackson portrait is on Drawger!
I am so happy to see my work on such a professional website for illustrators, though this project allows anyone to put their works :-D. Usually, only invited illustrators ( basically successful illustrators) allows up load their work and blog.   Anyway, I am happy :-D

MJ final

Michael Jackson's declining years...
Sorry for some ones who are big fun of MJ.
The most important in this assignment is how I saw MJ with a personal opinion.
I liked him when he sang great songs,
but I didn't like when he bought a copyright of Beatles records.

Button project

American call it Button, Japanese call it Badge, Korean call it Dancho.  We found a button machine in a second hand store! We are short of money because of the moving out in August, and we have to wait a while till our investment is ready!   By the way, I read an article about "Kickstarter". This is very interesting system for artist or anyone who needs supporter for them.

A cat is wondering in a poppy labyrinth

Hazy Sweet Pea

Sweet pea is one of my favorite flowers,
because she is so modest and friendly.
I mingled with my favorite flower and my favorite Japanese mountains in Nagano.  A mountain scenery from the top of mountain is hazy because of morning haze and air is so clear.  My eyes were watery with those beautiful morning mountain scenery many times.

Yes, I am a nature lover and used to be a mountain (hard) climber.

My Lily girl

The last summer vacation in my life is a week left.
After moving out, I start Photoshop again.
I am kind of a get a sense how to use it efficiently for my works.
I owe my private strict photoshop expert teacher!
He uses photoshop as if he play a piano, so amazing!

Amazing thing is that my dad asked me how to use Photoshop
and I taught him through skype and e-mails.
He is a quick learner!

September has already visited here....

A view from a new apartment.

Yahoo, I move in a new apartment!
This is the most wonderful place ever I lived in New York.

I am a cat lover.
If you ask me of making a character,
it becomes a cat naturally.
Here it is.
I am a bit exciting using watercolor for making characters,
ink and pen are my favorite style though.

I miss my cat, Yukichan.

monochrome wash drawing ( 墨絵)

When I was a child, I often visited my grandpa and grandma's house.
My grandma was very talented and smart woman.
She made haiku ( Japanese poem ), played Shamisen ( Three-stringed Japanese instrument ), and draw monochrome wash drawing, ( more than this! ).
Sometime, she served me a glass of wine ( even though I was an elementary school kid).
I liked to sit next to her and draw drawing together.
I still remembered that my grandma and I draw lobsters
and she liked my lobster drawing.
I tried to do same thing with water color,
but I found the differences from the one I made at grandma's house.
The difference is a lacking of momentum.

By the way, my mom is a talented woman as well as my grand mother.
She plays a mandolin, guitar, and ukulele.
I want to be like my grandma and my mom.

This is Fukurou.
Japanese like this bird, becuase Fuku means happiness.
My uncle is a corrector of Fukurou  goods.

Wait, this might be horned owl, not just a owl.
In these days, I enjoy drawing animals with an ink pen!

What is your favorite flower?

" what is your favorite flower? "
I might think over a while and ask
" Can I choose more than one?"
"No."
" Ok, I gonna choose Keshi flower ( Poppy ) for today! "
" but I may choose daisy, tomorrow! "

So many troubles cause to me since last week.
Don't put me into the other's trouble!
My mental and health conditions are so bad because of you and you!
Today is the last day of my help.
J and I decide to move out to nicer apartment in the end of this month.

This is the caricature of Lou Dobbs. I draw this when I escaped from this apartment and stayed at Bans and Noble.

Friday, July 31, 2009

I am losing myself now even under a beautiful summer weather.
I know the reason why I am depressed,
but I need to go forward untill I can see something.
I really appreciate my friends to encourage and admonish me.
Only I can do is drawing...
I sit and draw around Starbucks in Barns and Noble at Union Square.
Then,
I encountered a nice music bank,
 jukebox the ghost,
yesterday.
But, I still don't get out from my dark pond.

Mont-Blanc

Mont-Blanc is my favorite mountain in the world, because I tried to climb her 10 years ago.  I was a mountain climber,  a kind of hard styled climber, not extreme climber.  The tower sitting on the front mountain is Aiguille du midi that I climbed for altitude adaption.  I am not sure I can climb her again, but I want to visit there near the future!

Color study

I am allured into water color so much, I don't know why though.  The beauty of color rendering, the infinite of color expressions, the flexibility of colors are main reason why I like to use them for my works.  For example, I used the mixture of purple, blue, green, and orange for the shadow color of the mountain.  I need to know how those colors works together by practice and practice.  What I need to do is just work hard!

the back street of SOHO

Here is my favorite place, near Jin's ex-office,
because I can see pulse of the city.
Well, anywhere in Manhattan are filled with pulse,
but here is a bit different for some reason.
