"Nikon is the best camera brand in the world! "
My dad believes that and
uses only Nikon camera since he was young.
Naturally, I choose Nikon, too.
Now I am using D40.

I found an old camera in my house.
It looks so classic and pretty.

Are you a dog person or cat person?

Title: take a work
by Etching

Are you a dog person or a cat person?

I would answer " I am a cat person and a cat lover! "
Unfortunately, I can't own a cat in my apartment in New York, simply because I can't take responsibility for an entire cat life.  Someday I might need to go back to Japan for some reason though I don't know yet,  so I can't bring her back to Japan. I have a beloved cat, a tortoise-shell-cat in parents house and my parents keep her at their house.

I love to draw animals, especially cats.
There is not enough chance to take a picture of them on the street.
They run away from me soon.
Yes, I love stray cats more than expensive cats sold at the pet shop.

Naturally, there are many chance to draw dogs in New York!
I am becoming a dog person, too.

How about you?

Color study

My favorite media is watercolor. Some say watercolor is the most difficult media, others say it is the most beautiful media.  Basically, I make illustrations with pen, ink and watercolor.  In the Junior Thesis show of SVA, I used watercolor for the thesis works. I think I am the only one who used the media in the show (maybe).   Even though I like the media, I am always struggle with it.   One of professors recommends me to copy someone's work, so I did today. Yeah, it looks same as the original work.

I know the most hardest part is that I need to create my taste with colors with full of originality.  When I can reach the point. I have only one year left at SVA. Can I achieve the goal? I should!

Rainy day

It is rain today after five dry days. I am free from the gardening. Actually, it is hard to call what I do as the gardening. What I do in the garden (back yard) is weeding, trimming branches, mowing, digging soil, painting and sandpapering a wooden table and chairs.  Can I call this gardening? My mom says I am like a man.  My biceps are getting bigger.

Do you know this Japanese old saying?

Plowing the field on fine days and reading books on wet days!

Yes, I plan to read a book, Kinkakuji (a golden temple in Kyoto) by Yukio Mishima. I read his another book, Confessions of a mask, in the last semester at SVA, then I am interesting in his novel, called Mishima literature.

Caricature

I want to be an illustrator,
who can draw caricature with strong originality.
Who she is?
PJ Harvey...
it was very hard for me to capture the sense of her.

The upper one is a sketch.
The bottom one is the final.

Self-portrait? No!

Is this you?
My dad asked me...
Do you think so?
Does she look like me?
Studying art at SVA improves my technique more than this.
So, who she is?

Usually my day starts with weeding in our backyard for about two hours, taking shower, having lunch, and doing productive works for myself.  I am happy to have such a spacious backyard in our land, but there are ten of thousand weed... with many many small flowers .... lots of work.

One week went quickly since I am back to my hometown.  Officially, I am safe from swan flu.  I feel small with the only reason that I came back from NY here.  Yesterday, two high-school students who live in Tokyo and Kawasaki were infected with the flu.  The weird sight that everyone wear masks give me some question about Japan and Japanese though, I can't tell anybody my feeling here.    Oh, I heard a great news from my friend in New York that one of my friends works in the advertisement field got an
honorable award from ADC in the professional category.  My friends around me in NY are all great and talented.  I always get an incentive from them. I should be one of them!

My cat, Yuki, is not like this cat, though she is very cool to me.
"Daifuku" means Japanese mochi sweets that shapes like this cat.

Today is the 5th day in Japan.
Finally,  today is a beautiful weather!
What shall I do today?

I am back to Japan!
People wear masks everywhere in Narita airport to prevent from swin flu.
All passenger of the airplane I took were all safe so far. It took about an hour to get out from airplane after the airplane landed.  I felt the differences of the realization of the flu between the U.S. and Japan.
I think I have jet lag, so I waked up around 6 a.m. in the morning in Japan.
My lovely cat ignores me though she seems to remember me.
I age Sushi last night!!! I love Japanese food! I keep loosing my weight in the U.S. because of food?
